Key Persons

A keyperson is here to help you and your child settle into Preschool. Each keyperson has a special responsibility for a small group of children, getting to know them well, offering reassurance, and helping them feel safe and cared for. Through this warm, trusting relationship, the key person also builds a strong connection with parents and carers. They are primarily responsible for meeting your child’s physical needs and supporting their daily care routines.

Your child’s key person will contribute to their individual learning journey, which includes photos of activities, written observations, and samples of your child’s work. You are welcome to view this at any time through Tapestry.

Tapestry is a secure online platform that we use as a digital learning journal to record each child’s development, experiences, and learning through photos, videos, and written observations. It enables staff to share updates with parents and carers, who can view and comment on them, as well as add their own photos and notes from home. This shared approach helps build a strong partnership between home and preschool, ensuring that each child’s learning journey is celebrated and supported from both sides.

We encourage you to add photos or descriptions of outings, holidays, and family events—such as weddings or christenings—to your child’s journal to enrich their learning journey.

To ensure your child always has a familiar and consistent adult available, we work in keyperson teams and make sure that at least one member of each team is present at every session.
